About tests4
Which tests do you suggest first, and for which of us?
Why ask: A first evaluation usually looks at both partners; knowing the order helps you plan.
Does my partner need tests too, and which ones?
Why ask: Fertility is a shared question. A semen analysis is often a simple early step.
Would an ultrasound or blood tests help, and when in my cycle should they be done?
Why ask: Some tests are timed to particular days of the cycle.
What should be avoided before a semen analysis?
Why ask: Instructions such as days without ejaculation affect how reliable the result is.
About options1
Could lifestyle changes help, and how would we know?
Why ask: For some people small changes help, and it is useful to know what to look for.
About time and cost2
How long should we keep trying while tests are done?
Why ask: Testing and trying can usually happen together.
Roughly what would these steps cost, and what's included?
Why ask: Fees should be written down before you commit.
About the clinic3
Is your clinic registered on the National ART & Surrogacy Registry, and at which level?
Why ask: Clinics offering IUI, IVF or egg freezing in India must be registered. Checking is quick.
Who will I see at each appointment, and who do I contact with questions?
Why ask: Knowing who to ask makes the process less stressful.
Can I have copies of all my reports and treatment records?
Why ask: Your records are yours, and useful for any doctor you see later.

Why go in with questions
Appointments can feel short, and it's easy to forget what you meant to ask. A written list helps you cover what matters to you, and leaves room to note the answers.
How the list is organised
Questions are grouped the way an appointment usually goes: tests first, then options, then time and cost, then practical questions about the clinic. Reorder them however you like.
Checking the clinic
Clinics offering IUI, IVF or egg freezing in India must be registered under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021. Asking for the registration number is a normal, reasonable question.
What this tool can't do
It can't tell you what the answers should be. It suggests questions; your doctor answers them for your situation.

The first fertility tests, for each partner
A first fertility evaluation usually checks three things: whether ovulation is happening, whether the tubes and uterus look healthy, and the sperm. Each test answers a specific question, and none of them predicts whether you will conceive.

Are we worrying too early? When to see a fertility doctor
Many people conceive within a year of trying, and taking longer is common. Doctors usually suggest an evaluation after 12 months of trying, or after about 6 months from the mid-30s. From 40, or if there is a known reason to look, it makes sense to ask without waiting.
